From 16–18 August, COALESCE partners came together in Finland as part of the IEEE RTSI Conference 2026, contributing to a dedicated Special Session on “Energy Infrastructure Management for Sustainable and Resilient Multi-energy Systems.”
The Special Session brought together 15 peer-reviewed papers, presented across three Paper Sessions – 7C, 8D and 9D – on Day 2 of the conference. The programme showcased a diverse range of cutting-edge research, spanning topics such as space-air-ground networks, quantum communication, distributed battery management and resilient artificial intelligence.
The event provided an excellent opportunity to disseminate research supported by COALESCE to a broad and engaged audience. Participants showed strong interest in the project, its objectives and its approach to developing more sustainable, resilient and integrated energy systems.
Sharing COALESCE’s research
A successful tutorial workshop also helped to introduce the COALESCE project to a wider audience, providing an opportunity to share the project’s goals, methodologies and emerging results.
The conference programme created plenty of opportunities for informal exchange, with conversations continuing over lunch, coffee and networking sessions. These discussions helped identify potential areas for future cooperation and collaboration, both within the COALESCE partnership and with external researchers and organisations.
One of the highlights of the event was the opportunity to engage directly with industry representatives. These conversations offered valuable perspectives on the practical challenges facing energy infrastructure and helped connect the research presented at the conference with real-world needs.
The research presented through the Special Session will also contribute to the project’s upcoming Deliverable D2.3, alongside other project outputs. Overall, IEEE RTSI 2026 provided a valuable platform for COALESCE partners to share their research, strengthen existing relationships and build new connections around the shared goal of creating more sustainable, resilient and future-ready multi-energy systems.
