COALESCE was delighted to be part of European Researcher’s night 2026 which took place this September in Cyprus.
European Researchers’ Night event aims to encourage the public to become familiar with the world of science and research and at the same time to strengthen the public image of researchers, whilst highlighting the important role they play in society.
Through a festive atmosphere, the event brings together the general public, regardless of age, gender, educational or social level with the research teams, as an opportunity to find out more their work and get to know aspects of their personality beyond their scientific activity.
University of Cyprus participated on behalf of the COALESCE project with a dedicated booth titled ‘Future Communication Technologies: Quantum Computing and Wireless Power Transfer’, where the researchers presented and demonstrated research activities to visitors.
This included a wireless power transfer (WPT) demonstration, in which a base station transfers energy wirelessly to remote devices, and is directly related to optimisation problems such as power allocation, energy-efficient scheduling, and resource management in wireless networks.
Similarly, the transmitter–receiver experiment demonstrated in real time how the wireless channel affects the received signal and its power level. This is relevant to optimisation problems such as interference management, spectrum and resource allocation, and link optimization, where channel conditions play a key role in decision-making.
The booth attracted strong interest, particularly from students, academia, and industry, with some expressing interest in potential future research collaborations.
