A Master’s by Research student under the supervision of Dr Indrakshi Dey, Walton Institute, South East Technological University, completed her secondment and worked under the supervision of Antonis Hadjiantonis (CyRIC) with co-supervision from Ioannis Krikidis (University of Cyprus) at the CyRIC premises in Lefkosia, Cyprus, as part of the COALESCE project. Surya Jayakumar is working on Physics-Informed Graph Transformer-based RIS Control for Blockage-Aware Handover in VLC Systems in collaboration with Kapila Palitharathna from IRIDA Research Centre for Communication Technologies, University of Cyprus.
The secondment provided Surya with a valuable opportunity to meet researchers from different universities from diverse research areas and backgrounds. She also attended the COALESCE plenary meeting held at University of Cyprus on 26, 27, 28 Jan 2026 . It was a great opportunity to visit and spend time at CyRIC, explained Surya.
The secondment also helped her foster strong links between the different Universities, which is beneficial for the COALESCE project. She also added that, as a Master’s student, the secondment provided excellent exposure and learning opportunities.
