The latest COALESCE Plenary and Training School took place from 26 to 28 January 2026 at the University of Cyprus (UCY), Nicosia. The event combined interactive tutorials, poster sessions, lab visits, and strategic discussions, fostering collaboration and knowledge exchange in advanced communication systems, energy-efficient networks, and complex system sciences.
The programme included tutorials by Dr Konstantinos Ntougias (UCY) on Intelligent Reconfigurable Systems , Dr Arun Narayanan (LUT) on Energy-aware Combinatorial Optimisation Problems, Prof. Nicola Marchetti (TCD) on Complex Systems Science Methods for Future Scalable and Robust Networks, Dr Ilias Cherkoui (Walton Institute, South East Technological University – SETU) on Formal Verification of Cryptographic Protocols, Dr Christodoulos Skouroumounis (CyRIC) on Bridging Energy and Intelligence: RIS-Enabled SWIPT for 6G Networks, and Dr Kapila Palitharathna (UCY) on Emerging Trends in Visible Light Communication and Liquid Lens Applications.
The Year 2 review session, coordinated by Dr Indrakshi Dey (Walton Institute, SETU), provided an overview of progress across work packages, scientific results, training and secondment activities, knowledge transfer, management and financial matters, ethics and IP, as well as dissemination and open-access compliance.
The first two days took place at UCY, including visits to the IRIDA Research Centre for Communication Technologies laboratories. The third day was hosted at the Cyprus Research & Innovation Centre (CyRIC), where advanced laboratory facilities and experimental work were presented.
