From 25 September to 25 October, Shama Siddiqui, DHA Suffa University, and Anwar Ahmed Khan, Millennium Institute of Technology & Entrepreneurship, Karachi, took part in a one-month COALESCE secondment at LUT University, Finland. During their stay they worked with Prof. Pedro Nardelli, specialist in cyber-physical energy systems and packetized energy management, Prof. Behnam Mohammadi-Ivatloo, expert in integrated multi-energy systems, Arun Narayanan, Mehrullah, Hafiz Majid Hussain, Madia Safdar, and Rabbaya Akhtar, contributing to research on smart energy networks, IoT solutions and network-protocol design.
As part of their visit they also travelled to the University of Oulu, where they met Prof. Mehdi Rasti whose work centres on beyond-5G/6G wireless systems, IoT platforms, cyber-physical verticals and protocol development. Shama and Anwar visited the 6G Flagship Centre (a state-of-the-art research and testing environment for next-generation wireless networks, including mmWave/THz chambers, software-defined radio (SDR) based test networks and extensive real-world prototyping and verification facilities), based at the University of Oulu, and discussed avenues for future collaborative research in IoT-driven smart-city infrastructure. This visit strengthened research ties among partner institutions, promoted knowledge exchange across teams, and opened pathways for joint publications and new project development within the COALESCE framework.
